Kew Gardens Here We Come!

As you know we are going to visit Kew gardens next week.We have been learning about plants and how they grow this half term. We have grown our own mustard seeds and tested what they needed to help them grow. We also visited different areas around school to see where plants are growing. The best place we went was the environmental garden where we saw an enormous moth.

All this learning has really prepared us for our trip to Kew. We have also had a look at the website for Kew and if you click on the picture you can play the Climbers and Creepers game.

Look who I found in the garden!

As you know our history topic this term is old and new toys and I have asked you to find out what your parents and grandparents used to play with.  I thought you might like to see one of the latest things to play with using the computer.  Have a chat with you family about how fast toys are changing.  Press play and enjoy.

You can now add comments about each post by clicking on the comment symbol above.  Just leave your name and I will read it and post it (obviously if suitable).

Louise and Martha are in Nottingham today telling lots of other teachers all about our blogs. So far the teachers have been really impressed and are thinking about setting up their own. We have told them how much you like showing your families what you do in school and that you enjoy using the websites we use in class when you get home to help your learning.

Welcome to the Summer Term

Summer seems to have arrived and so has our new term. This half term we will be learning about “Changes” and will be doing this through our subject areas of toys in history, pushes and pulls in science and moving pictures in DT. We will be going on a trip to Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood and visiting the park to help us with our learning. Click on the teddy to have a look at what the museum has to offer.

Rowan is joining Blue Class as a part of his Graduate Training Programme, he will be teaching the class an increasing amount of time as the term progresses.

Come and Listen To Our Band!

Well done for making such a huge range of fantastic instruments for your homework last week. We took them to our music lesson with Jane and she was so impressed that she’d like parents/carers/friends to join us for assembly next Tuesday. We will play  for you and you will have a chance to see what wonders can be done with our homemade instruments! Also, feel free to ask to come and see our display in class where they are on show.

Philosophy

bear.jpg

Last week we had our first philosophy session. We will be deciding what we would like to learn from a book, picture, piece of music or an object that Louise introduces us to. The way we do this allows us to decide on a line of enquiry that we would like to follow. When we have decided on our question Louise helps us to think of interesting and challenging questions.  This way of learning is good for our skills of speaking and listening and helps us to develop our language. It also helps us to consider others points of view and to take turns.

Science Sounds

This half term in science we are learning all about sound and hearing. Those of you who did your homework will have started already. You have used the BBC before to help you learn about light. There are also games about sound and hearing.

Click on the picture to go to the games,be ready for some noise!
